Crate Training Without the Guilt

Crate training done right — a den your dog loves, not a punishment zone. Potty training, separation anxiety prevention, and travel safety.

The crate is not a cage. It's a cave. Dogs are den animals. Your guilt is the problem, not the crate.

Crate should be big enough to stand, turn around, and lie down. Cover with a blanket (makes it den-like). Put it in a family area, not the basement. Never use for punishment — it must be the dog's safe space.

Introduce slowly: open door, toss treats inside, feed meals in crate with door open. Close door for 1 minute while feeding. Gradually extend. 5 minutes → 15 → 30 → 1 hour → 2 hours. Rushing creates anxiety.
